The Social Contract
AGE REQUIREMENT:
You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in this community. As a volunteer-run community, we do not have the capacity to make exceptions via parental/guardian authorization.
PERSONAL CONDUCT:
Be excellent to one another! Every online community contains a variety of viewpoints and opinions, something that undoubtedly contributes to a richer experience for its users, but can also lead to conflict. This can manifest itself in a variety of ways; arguments, cyber-bullying, passive-aggressive responses, etc. While the moderation team endeavors to monitor for individual instances of rule infractions, it is incumbent upon our users to conduct themselves in a way that encourages a frank and fair exchange of views in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Respecting the Game Masters & Moderation Team: Our entire staff of DMs and Mods are dedicated volunteers who spend a great deal of time attempting to maintain and develop an engaging world for our users to play D&D in. While we are here to listen to your complaints and provide as much information as possible, please understand that there are some things that we cannot discuss, either to maintain the integrity of the game world, or to maintain privacy. If you have a concern that you feel is being ignored, there is a feedback system in place.

MINOR & MAJOR INFRACTIONS:
Minor Infractions:
Committing minor infractions on Discord or in-game will result in a first warning, followed by a suspension. If the issue becomes chronic, a permanent ban will be considered.
Minor infractions will accumulate via a 3 strike policy. The first three offenses for minor infractions are warnings, any offenses following that are met with a one week suspension from games and a strike beyond the suspension is a permanent ban from the server and our website.
Major Infractions:
Committing Major Infractions will result in an immediate and permanent ban from the discord, Ohr Roll20 and our website, even with no previous warnings or infractions.

- Language Policy
- Excessive use of strong language will not be tolerated. Ex: The odd swear word is fine. A profanity laced rant, on the other hand, is not. Discretion will rest with the moderators. If you consistently use strong language during games, you will be given a warning. Player characters (especially in this setting) should probably come up with their own cultural insults or curse words. IE: You walking into a dungeon and calling a bandit a "little bitch" isn't setting appropriate and sounds ridiculous.
- Flaming and Personal Attacks
- We do not tolerate personal attacks on other users. Please keep your arguments and posts on topic, and argue the ideas and topics of the thread instead of insulting other users.
- Example: Telling someone that you disagree with their argument is tolerated, while calling someone inappropriate names is not.
- Trolling
- Posting excessive negative comments or baiting others to respond in a negative manner is considered trolling.
- Example: IF there is one game that you did not enjoy, voicing your opinion to a mod, or the GM who ran the game through direct PMs is encouraged. Posting your opinion on every discord channel because you believe everyone needs to hear about your experience/opinion is not tolerated.
- Non-Consensual Surveillance
- Creating a unique record of another user's speech or activity without their consent.
- Example: Asking permission if you can stream a game, or taking screen shots of messages in discord are fine. Recording the voice channels without permission from all who are recorded is not.
Major Infractions:
Committing Major Infractions will result in an immediate and permanent ban from the discord, Ohr Roll20 and our website, even with no previous warnings or infractions.
- Hateful Content
- Hateful content includes, but is not limited to, discriminating comments about: race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexuality, political beliefs. The mod team holds complete and total discretion to decide what is considered hateful during day to day conversations in public chat channels.
- Sexual Harassment
- Our community has members of all ages and beliefs. Posting any pornographic content, or aggressively soliciting other users (publicly or privately) will not be tolerated. In addition, Erotic Role-play or ERP is not allowed on this server.
- Multiple Accounts
- If the mod team discovers that a user is creating and/or using multiple accounts, that user, and all accounts, both past and present, will be permanently banned.
- Posting Other's Personal Information Without Consent
- It is against our rules to post the personal information of other people (doxxing) without their consent. This includes, but is not limited to, e-mail correspondence, contact information, photographs, etc. It is to the moderator's discretion to decide whether or not the line has been crossed.
PLAYER EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You are responsible for maintaining your character sheet: If you leveled after a session please make sure to adjust your character sheet before next session. Anything that isn't filled out before game time doesn't exist.
- Please don't talk over the DM: While sometimes this is unavoidable, because of how online communication works, let's try to keep it at a minimum.
- Show up on time, and energized for the session: We want you to want to be there. If you're having a bad day, sick, or for whatever reason won't be able to contribute to the session to create a more fun, interesting and varied experience for everyone at the table please don't show up. Skip a session and return later when you're feeling up to playing and having fun.
- Try to Role-Play: Talk in character if you're comfortable doing so, even typing out your actions and what your character says is perfectly fine if it means you're in a better position to role-play your character.
- If you don't understand a mechanic, don't use it: Bring it up after the session and ask for help if needed.
- Rolling social skills in lieu of role-playing a scenario is not allowed: You'll need to at least attempt to present a legitimate argument or reasoning for your characters actions/what they've said. Rolling a Natural 20 (5th Edition) does not mean you get to ignore the RP aspect of the check.
- Conflict between PCs does not need to be discussed within the group: A player who is going out of their way to antagonize or attack another player for OOC reasons may be asked to leave the game. Legitimate character differences and fundamental ideological differences might mean two characters will dislike one another or potentially engage in combat. Player versus player is 'enabled' as long as it's sensible and within the limits of the character. If you're creating characters who only exist to antagonize or be obnoxious, you won't be playing for very long.
- If your character is not in the scene, do not interfere with the characters who are in the scene: No backseat playing, no recommendations on skill usage. This goes for combat situations as well. If someone needs HELP that is a different story. DO NOT TELL OTHER PEOPLE HOW TO PLAY THE GAME.
- Be mindful of initiative and your place in it: A player should not have to be reminded when it's their turn more than once per round. Have your action prepared and ready to go, or have a description in mind.
- If a player is called upon to roll a skill, roll the skill: It's not optional and sometimes clarification may be given and other times it may not be. Rolling a skill check without context is a no go.
- Monsters Don't Play by the Rules: What does this mean? Creatures and other npcs don't have to adhere to the rules found in the book. If the DM wants to create a creature who takes turns out of order, has more than one reaction, has an ability or spell that isn't found in the book, that's fine. You should expect that coming into the game.
- Logic and common sense apply here, sometimes this trumps RAW (Rules as Written): It doesn't matter how strong or agile your character is, you won't be tripping a dragon using your staff.
- A good description of your Action is Worth More than a Good Dice Roll: A picture is worth a thousand words, a description is worth as many words as you put into describing the action. This rule is here to encourage players to add to the game world by way of description. Rather it's during combat, a social encounter or even a simple pub scene, describing your actions and contributing to the scene/situations going on around you will often net you benefits in game. A small bonus to the roll, inspiration, etc.
